Situated at a distance of about 50 kilometres from Angul city, Bhimakand consists of a beautiful rock art image of Lord Vishnu, in sleeping posture. This massive image spans about 42’ (126.5 cm) long and 8’ wide and is believed to be the second largest image in the country, after Gomogteswar in Karnataka. This sculpture belongs to the 8th – 9th century A.D. This image, along with the picturesque river Brahmani, flowing across the village have made this place a wonderful and famous tourist attraction.
Sri Saila Khetra
It is one of the most beautiful temples set up at Sunasagada Hill top in Angul. The main temple is composed of Natyamandir, Garvagriha, Mukhasala and Jagamohan and Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath and Devi Subhadra are worshipped here. Goddess Saraswathi, Bimala and Lakshmi are worshipped in the temple complex. This temple is thus a beautiful replica of Lord Jagannath Temple in Odisha and is spread over an area of about 7500 square feet. Car Festival and other such festivals associated with Lord Jagannatha are celebrated here with great pomp and fanfare and draw huge number of visitors.
